I have recently joined the Central Arkansas VA Health Care System as their Quality Manager.
Prior to this, I served as faculty at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock teaching in the Health Sciences Dept. I have also served in various leadership positions in the Arkansas Department of Public Health, formulating and implementing policies affecting the citizens of Arkansas.
I am also a consultant to the United Nations Development Program and the World Health Organization, assisting in developing health care systems, devastated in the October 2005 earthquake in South Asia.
I also serve as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Fay Boozman College of Public Health and as Inaugural Faculty at the Clinton School of Public Service.
My interest in global health and its related issues has led me to become an active member of the Arkansas Committee on Foreign Relations. My other interests are in health care disparities and cultural competency.
Personal Information
Originally from Pakistan, born in the historic city of Lahore in the Province of the famous 5 rivers-Punjab, I recieved my medical degree from Karachi - the mtropolition coastal city in the province of Sindh in 1988.
Immigrated to USA in 1993 and became a naturalized citizen in 2005. My hobbies include philately and photography. Sports that I enjoy include table tennis (ping pong), cricket and swimming.
What I would like to get out of this program
To be able to learn, develop and apply leadership qualities, skills to my job to improve the health care system.
