Area of Work:  Performance Management Team

Stephanie Dunson joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in November 2007 as a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Business Analyst for the Performance Management Team (PMT) in the Coordinating Center for Infectious Diseases. She work with the management and leadership of the SBU/PMT Alliance to evaluate and increase the efficiency of the Personnel and Training Administration, specifically regarding business processes and performance metrics, analysis of operational costs and customer service delivery goals and trends.

Before arriving at CDC, Ms. Dunson served in various capacities within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where she worked for several years in such areas as income verification, healthcare cost recovery, long-term care, social work services, resource utilization, cost effectiveness, quality assurance, and customer relationship management. She also worked as a Program Analyst for the VA's National Commission on VA Nursing, in which the VA was responding to the national nursing shortage and its effect on the system. Ms. Dunson received her Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Health Administration from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Oklahoma City University.  She is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Personal Information

I currently live with my husband and dog outside of Atlanta, GA. I love to travel, see new things and eat great food. I am the eldest of three children and have a niece and nephew. In my spare time, I love to cheer for the Oklahoma Sooners.

What I would like to get out of this program

I would like to gain a greater understanding of the crtitical issues facing future of public health and how I can be a part of the solution.
