Areas of Work in Health:

Trained in operations and planning for health care settings as part of a two-year graduate degree that included a clerkship and residency, I accepted a position in the medical facilities division in a department of public health. After four to five years of conducting inspections, project analysis, planning, arranging loans and grants, I moved in to directing emergency services and acute care facilities. During this same period, I became involved with mental health agencies and area-wide comprehensive health planning. I have advocated for the rights of the disadvantaged as well as served on boards and in organizations related to the aged, mentally ill, home-nursing, and family services. As a director of a regional office that encompasses eight counties and many jurisdictions, I support the work of health departments in rural, urban and suburban areas through funding and a wide range of public health consultants.

Personal Information:

I have a grown son who is personal trainer and is married to a physician. At this time, I have only thoughts of grandchildren. My time away from work is spent on activities such playing golf, listening to jazz, and dining. I also spent a lot of time driving cars for relaxation.

What I would like to get out of this program:

My goal is to meet with those participating in the program and learn from their experiences. I would like to pursue projects that would be meaningful for practitioners of public health. I want to hear and read about new information related to public health.
